Philosophy

Our Philosophy is one, which emphasizes the total development needs of each child - cognitively, socially, emotionally, and physically. Children should have a desire for knowledge and self-improvement and be provoked with many opportunities for success. They should be excited, challenged, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential. We feel that school should be a place where children find mutual trust, discipline, respect, and love for one another. Since the school is family-owned and operated, we advocate the value of family.

Incorporating this philosophy into a program, we have carefully planned an innovative curriculum based upon the Traditional, Montessori and Reggio Emilia approaches to learning which include a creative, hands-on approach.

Discipline

Our staff members try to be reasonable, patient, forgiving, fair, and diplomatic. As adults we take responsibility for decisions relating to a child's health, welfare, and safety. Children need lots of love and approval. A child's desire to please adults is one of the most important aspects of effective discipline, so we praise and hug children very often. Some of our approaches in teaching children discipline are as follows:

  • Love and Approval
  • Communicate with Respect
  • Acknowledge a Child's Good Behavior
  • Set Clear Limits and Boundaries
  • Establish Awareness
  • Be Realistic
  • Maintain Consistency

Family Involvement

Parents are invited to participate, and are encouraged to volunteer or share any particular interest directly with their child's head teacher. Parents are invited to share their concerns and insights. The school invites families and friends to several child-oriented functions yearly, such as:

  • Grandparents' Day
  • Halloween Parade
  • Back-to-School Night
  • Spring Art Festival
  • Graduation
  • Summer Camp Swim Party
